Elementary School held a Trash a Thon to raise money for the
World War II Memorial. The
students went door to door with a parent to get one time
then went to different areas of the community to pick up litter.
The project was integrated so that the students could
learn a variety of lessons:
public relations skills by asking for pledges, math
skills by adding up pledge amounts, environmental issues by
determining which litter was recyclable and the safety issue of
handling different types of refuse.
