Arne Aalbu

Arne Aalbu was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver Aalbu. He had a sister and a brother. Arne was raised in the Wessington Springs area of South Dakota. At some point, his parents moved to Stanwood, Snohomish County, Washington.

After entering the service and being sent overseas to the European theater, Arne Aalbu was once wounded in August of 1944 and subsequently received a Purple Heart. His hospitalization kept him from active duty for several months.

On December 9, 1944, Arne Aalbu was killed in action in France. His name is listed by the War Department as a casualty of Snohomish County in Washington. He is also listed at http://www.historylink.org/wardead/index.htm on the Washington State Roll of Honor, which is a comprehensive listing of Washington State citizens who “gave their lives in the service of their communities and country.”
