George Wright Beck

Killed in Action in the South Pacific
George Wright Beck, the son of Kreg and Mary Beck, was born on March 20,
1926, in Custer, South Dakota. He attended Custer High School.
Seaman, 1st Class Beck enlisted in the navy soon after his
sixteenth birthday, on April 29, 1942. He received training at the Farragut
Naval Training Station in Farragut, Idaho. He was overseas since September
1942, participating in campaigns in the south and southwest Pacific. He was
killed in action on December 27, 1944 in the South Pacific.
At the time of his death, he was survived by is parents, three brothers, and
three sisters. His name is on the tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial
in Honolulu, Hawaii.
