Raymond Fred Bohle was the grandson of Ed Bohle of
Eureka, South Dakota. Raymond lived most of his life in Eureka, where he
Bohle entered active service in 1942 and had spent about
two years overseas in the Pacific theater. Pfc. Raymond Bohle was killed in
action on January 22, 1945,on Luzon, Philippine Islands. His grandfather
received a telegram from the War Department informing him of Raymondís death.
He was awarded the Purple Heart. It is believed his body
was returned to the United States and buried locally after the war.
