Ruben R. Bonnet was born to Jacob and Emilia Bonnet at
Leola, South Dakota, on September 2, 1925. He was at home with his family in
Leola before he entered the service.
On February 3, 1944, Ruben Bonnet entered active service at
Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He was sent overseas to the European theater in
October of 1944.
Private First Class Ruben Bonnet, 347th Infantry
Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, was killed in action on March 25,
1945, in Germany. He was buried at Plot F, Row 13, Grave 19, at Luxembourg
American Cemetery, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.
Ruben was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
