Harold M. Brandt

Harold M. Brandt was born to Harry Mason and Mable Estella Brandt in Warroad, Minnesota on August 13, 1923.  He moved with his family to Watertown in 1929.  He attended Watertown High School and graduated in 1941.  He also worked at Swift Produce and Nelson Hardware in Watertown, SD.   He enlisted in the armed services on January 20, 1943 at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota.

He was a paratrooper serving with Company F, 511th Parachute Infantry of the 11th Airborne Division.  He was sent overseas on May 12, 1944.  He was mortally wounded on December 8, 1944 on Leyte Island in the Philippines and died on December 15, 1944.

His father and mother, two sisters, Miss Glenna Brandt and Miss Jean Brandt and two brothers, Marvin and Richard survived him, at the time of his death.  His father and one brother, Richard, lived in Watertown.  The rest of family was residing in San Diego, California.
