William P. Butler

William Patrick Butler was born on March 17, 1923, at Albion, Montana, to Alvin and Beulah Butler. In 1931, Alvin Butler died at Deadwood, South Dakota. Williamís mother later married again and William Samuel became Williamís step-father.

According to the Department of the Armyís Official Statement of the Military Service and Death, William Butler was inducted into the military service on April 7, 1943, at Fort Crook, Nebraska. He gave Deadwood as his official home address. He was transferred to the Enlisted Reserve Corps the same date. William reported for active duty on April 14, 1943, and left the United States for foreign service on August 17, 1944.

William Patrick Butler died on July 25, 1945, at the United States Medical Clearing Station, Karlsruhe, Germany, while serving as a private first class, 326th Airborne Medical Company.  He is buried at Plot A, Row 23, Grave 49, at Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.
