William L. Cassidy was born on July 13,
1916 in Elkton, South Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. William Cassidy. He attended St.
Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Elkton High School.
Cassidy enlisted in the army on December
7, 1942, and trained as a tanker at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, and at Camp
Campbell, Kentucky. He left for overseas in October of 1944 as a member of a
Army Sergeant William L. Cassidy was
killed in action on Thanksgiving Day in the year 1944, near Langtres, France. A
memorial service was held for William on December 22 in Elkton of that same
William L. Cassidy was survived by his
sister, Eleanor Earley of Sioux Falls.
