David Cedar Boy

David Cedar Boy was born September 13, 1908, at Bullhead, South Dakota, to James and Susan Cedar Boy. He had a sister, Mary. Before he entered the service, David worked for the Indian Road Department at Bullhead.

†David Cedar Boy entered active service at Fort Meade, South Dakota. After he was trained, Pfc. Cedar Boy was sent overseas to the Pacific theater as part of the 43rd Engineer Battalion.

Private First Class David Cedar Boy was killed in action on April 18, 1943, in New Guinea. The telegram from the War Department to Davidís sister read:

The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your Brother
Private First Class David Cedar Boy died April 18 in Southwest Pacific Area.
Letter Follows.

Although originally buried in New Guinea, David Cedar Boyís remains were returned to the United States and he was reburied locally after the war. Because his mother had died in 1936 and his father in 1948, his only living heir was Mary (Cedar Boy) Brave Crow of Bullhead.
