Gerben A. Coehoorn was born May 3, 1925, in Sioux Falls,
South Dakota, to Henry and Elsie Coehoorn. Raised and educated in Sioux Falls,
Gerben graduated from Washington High School in June of 1943.
On July 11, 1943, Gerben Coehoorn entered active service at
Omaha, Nebraska. After his training and commission as a Flight Officer, Coehoorn
went overseas on December 24, 1944, as part of the 406th Bomber
On March 14, 1945, Flight Officer Gerben Coehoorn died as a
result of injuries sustained in a plane accident in Harrington, England.
Gerben Coehoorn was buried at Plot F, Row 2, Grave 120,
Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
