History of the South Dakota Veterans Commission

During the 2020 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 156 was introduced, passed both houses and was signed by Governor Noem. Senate Bill 156 highlighted that with a stand-alone Veterans Affairs Department and cabinet secretary, there was no longer a need for a veteran’s commission. With passage of Senate Bill 156, the South Dakota Veterans Commission was abolished effective July 1, 2020.
